From Senator Bernie Sanders, the only elected socialist member of the national legislature, a constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court’s toxic Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.

Here’s his announcement of the amendment, made last month.

From the petition website, which had garnered 184,736 signatures when we signed today:

The Saving American Democracy Amendment states that:

  • Corporations are not persons with constitutional rights equal to real people.
  • Corporations are subject to regulation by the people.
  • Corporations may not make campaign contributions or any election expenditures.
  • Congress and states have the power to regulate campaign finances.
